A sanitation worker has died and two others are in critical condition following a toxic gas leak in a sewerage chamber in Ujjain. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.

A severe accident occurred in Ujjain when a toxic gas leak inside a sewerage chamber led to the death of one sanitation worker. Two other workers who were present during the cleaning operation have sustained critical injuries and are receiving medical attention.

The incident took place during routine cleaning work, raising concerns about safety protocols. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation has been launched into the matter. The police are examining potential negligence on the part of the company responsible for the cleaning operations.

Local residents have voiced allegations of safety standard oversights in past projects, including those related to the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, where they claim more than six lives have been lost previously due to similar lapses. The current investigation aims to ascertain the exact cause of the gas leak and fix accountability.
