Ujjain: Residents Dismantle Section of Shahi Mosque After Agreement, 15 Arrested Including 5 Influencers

Tensions that had built up around the historic Shahi Mosque in Ujjain have eased after the district administration and the mosque committee reached a consensus on the disputed structure. With the agreement in place, the municipal road‑widening project that was stalled is now back on track.
Under the terms of the settlement, members of the local Muslim community have taken it upon themselves to dismantle the portion of the mosque that was identified as encroaching on the planned road. Officials say the removal is being carried out voluntarily and under supervision, ensuring that religious sentiments are respected while civic work proceeds.
Simultaneously, law‑enforcement agencies launched a crackdown on individuals alleged to have circulated false information about the demolition. Fifteen persons were taken into custody, including five prominent social‑media influencers who were accused of stoking communal anxiety through rumors.
Police officials have appealed to the public to refrain from sharing unverified reports and to cooperate with the ongoing civic works. The administration reiterated that the removal was mutually agreed upon and that any attempts to inflame the situation will be dealt with strictly.
