Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav laid the foundation stone for a Rs 945.20 crore elevated corridor in Ujjain, aiming to ease traffic on key pilgrimage routes before the Singhasth‑2028 games.
Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh – On Tuesday, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav performed the groundbreaking ceremony for an elevated corridor project valued at Rs 945.20 crore. The infrastructure work, slated to begin immediately, is part of a broader effort to upgrade the city’s transport network ahead of the upcoming Singhasth-2028 sporting event.
The elevated corridor will run along the city’s main religious arteries, linking major temples and pilgrimage sites. By separating vehicular traffic from pedestrian flow, officials expect a significant reduction in congestion during peak festival periods and the international games.
State officials said the project will be executed in phases, with the first stretch expected to be operational within two years. Funding comes from the state’s infrastructure budget, and the construction will involve both local contractors and national engineering firms.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials and representatives of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation, who highlighted the corridor’s role in boosting tourism and improving road safety.
The initiative reflects Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to modernising urban amenities while preserving the cultural significance of its historic sites.
