The Ujjain Development Authority demolished 16 structures in Begum Bagh that were operating commercially despite being on a 30‑year residential lease, with over 50 police officers on standby.

Ujjain Development Authority (UDA) carried out a bulldozer operation in the Begum Bagh area, located close to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, removing sixteen structures that were built without permission. The demolition was part of a crackdown on illegal commercial use of land that had been allotted on a 30‑year residential lease. Authorities said the buildings were operating as shops and offices despite the lease conditions, violating zoning rules. More than fifty police personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent any resistance during the demolition. UDA officials indicated that the site will be monitored to ensure it remains used for residential purposes as originally intended.
