A new passenger facility has been inaugurated at Udhna station in Gujarat, designed to handle around 125,000 travelers each day, with upgraded capacity and modern amenities.
The Gujarat government has opened a state‑of‑the‑art passenger complex at Udhna railway station, a key node on the Mumbai‑Ahmedabad corridor. The facility is built to accommodate an estimated 125,000 commuters daily, reflecting the station's growing importance as a suburban hub for Surat.
The upgraded complex includes expanded waiting halls, additional ticket counters, digital information boards, and improved sanitation facilities. Seamless connectivity to local bus services and auto‑rickshaws has also been integrated to ease last‑mile travel.
Officials said the project, funded under the Indian Railways' station redevelopment programme, aims to enhance passenger comfort and reduce congestion during peak hours. The new amenities are expected to boost the station's capacity to handle future traffic growth as Surat’s urban sprawl expands.
Railway authorities will monitor usage patterns and plan further enhancements, such as escalators and Wi‑Fi services, in the coming months. The inauguration marks a significant step toward modernising regional rail infrastructure in western India.
