The Jammu‑Srinagar highway has been opened for two‑way traffic, with authorities urging commuters to avoid travelling after dark.
The road authority has lifted the one‑way restriction on the Jammu‑Srinagar highway, allowing vehicles to move in both directions. The decision follows clearance of recent landslide debris and repair work that had halted normal flow.
Officials have issued an advisory recommending that motorists postpone journeys during night hours until conditions are fully assessed. The advisory cites reduced visibility and the possibility of residual hazards on the mountainous stretch.
Travel agencies and local transport operators have been asked to inform passengers about the new arrangement and the night‑travel caution. The move aims to restore connectivity between the summer capital Srinagar and the winter capital Jammu while ensuring safety.
Authorities will continue to monitor the route and may reinstate additional restrictions if required. Commuters are encouraged to stay updated through official channels before planning trips.
