Two agricultural laborers were electrocuted by an exposed live wire laid to deter wildlife in Kora village, Patna district, on Wednesday evening.

Patna district’s Fulwari Sharif police‑station area witnessed a tragic accident on Wednesday evening when an uncovered high‑voltage wire, installed to keep wild animals away from farmland, touched two farm workers in Kora village. The live wire, left bare on the field, caused immediate electrocution, leading to the deaths of both laborers.

One of the victims has been identified, while the second remains unnamed pending official confirmation. Local authorities confirmed that the workers were engaged in routine field work when they inadvertently stepped into the electrified line.

The incident prompted a response from the Communist Party of India (Marxist‑Leninist), which demanded a compensation package of ten lakh rupees for each family of the deceased. Officials are investigating the safety protocols surrounding the use of such wires in agricultural zones.

The tragedy has raised concerns among farmers about the practice of using uninsulated wires for crop protection, prompting calls for safer, wildlife‑friendly deterrent methods.
