Two women detained on Assam train with counterfeit Aadhaar and Bangladeshi notes

Railway authorities in Assam halted a passenger train after routine checks revealed two female passengers in possession of a forged Aadhaar identification document. The women were taken into custody by railway police for further inquiry.
During the inspection, officials also recovered a bundle of Bangladeshi banknotes, which are not legal tender in India. The currency was found concealed in the passengers' luggage along with the counterfeit ID.
Police officials said the presence of a fake Aadhaar card and foreign currency raises concerns about potential cross‑border fraud and illegal financial activities. They have forwarded the case to the local crime branch for detailed investigation.
The detained individuals have not been formally charged yet, and the investigation remains ongoing as authorities verify the authenticity of the documents and trace the source of the foreign notes.
