In Puri, Odisha, two tourists narrowly escaped drowning while bathing in the sea, thanks to prompt action by lifeguards.
At around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, two tourists were bathing in the Puri sea when strong currents pulled them toward the shoreline. The tourists were unable to return to the shore on their own and began to struggle in the water.
Local lifeguards stationed at the beach noticed the distress and immediately launched a rescue operation. Using a rescue rope and a small inflatable boat, they pulled the tourists to safety within minutes.
The Odisha State Disaster Management Authority confirmed that no injuries were reported and the tourists were taken to a nearby medical facility for a routine checkup. Authorities praised the lifeguards for their quick response and urged beachgoers to stay alert during bathing hours.
