Two suspects jailed in Jharkhand after ATM card trap fraud

Jharkhand police have taken legal action against two individuals accused of a deceptive scheme that involved lodging a victim’s debit card inside an automated teller machine. The men allegedly secured the card within the machine, withdrew cash using the card’s PIN and left the victim without access to his account.
The investigation revealed that the suspects manipulated the ATM’s card slot to retain the card, enabling them to conduct multiple unauthorized transactions before the fraud was discovered.
Following the probe, both accused were arrested, charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, and subsequently sentenced to imprisonment. Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any irregularities observed at ATMs.
