Two sitting legislators from Punjab quit the Aam Aadmi Party after the party released its 2027 assembly candidate list, which excluded them.
In a move that has shocked Punjab politics, two sitting members of the Legislative Assembly announced their resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the party released its first list of 40 candidates for the 2027 assembly elections.
The list, published by AAP, did not feature the names of the two legislators, sparking anger and disappointment. The MLAs claimed that they had been promised tickets for the upcoming election but were left out.
Following the announcement, the legislators formally submitted their resignation letters to the party's state unit, citing a breach of trust and the need to pursue their political careers elsewhere.
AAP has yet to comment on the resignations, but the incident raises questions about the party's candidate selection process ahead of the 2027 elections.
