Jamui, Bihar – Within a span of 12 hours, two women who had recently delivered babies succumbed to complications at Jamui Sadar Hospital. The deaths were reported early on Tuesday, raising immediate concerns about the quality of post‑natal care at the government facility.
Family members of the deceased gathered at the hospital premises, placed the bodies on the ground and began a vocal demonstration demanding answers and accountability. The protest continued for several hours, with relatives insisting on a transparent investigation into the medical treatment provided.
State health minister Shreyasi Singh responded by questioning the hospital’s emergency response and treatment protocols. The district administration subsequently formed a three‑member inquiry committee and directed it to submit a detailed report within 24 hours.
