A crack in the bridge deck of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Shivgarh in Ratlam has led NHAI to close two lanes for safety, while traffic continues on the remaining lanes.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) discovered a fissure in the deck slab of an underpass bridge on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Shivgarh, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. As a precaution, two of the four lanes were immediately closed to prevent any accidents. Traffic is being diverted to the remaining two lanes, allowing vehicles to continue moving while repairs are underway.
Engineers have begun remedial work on the damaged section, focusing on stabilising the slab and sealing the crack. The repair crew is expected to work round the clock to minimise disruption, though no specific timeline for full lane reopening has been announced.
Motorists have been advised to exercise caution and follow the temporary traffic arrangements. The closure is part of routine safety protocols to ensure the structural integrity of the expressway, which is a critical artery linking the national capital with Mumbai.
