Two FIRs have been lodged against independent MLA Ganeshraj Bansal, his wife and the former municipal commissioner in Hanumangarh over alleged irregularities in a land purchase ahead of the council chairman election.

Hanumangarh police registered two First Information Reports (FIRs) on allegations of land‑purchase fraud involving independent legislator Ganeshraj Bansal, his spouse and the then municipal commissioner, just days before the city council chairman election.

The complaints allege that the accused colluded to acquire a parcel of land through deceptive practices, potentially violating provisions of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating and criminal conspiracy. The FIRs name several other individuals who are alleged to have assisted in the transaction.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact location of the disputed land, but the filing of the FIRs underscores growing scrutiny of political figures ahead of the upcoming municipal council vote. The investigation is expected to proceed alongside the election process, adding a layer of tension to the local political climate.

Local party workers and residents have expressed concern that the allegations could influence the outcome of the council chairman election, which is scheduled to take place shortly after the FIRs were lodged. Police have indicated that they will continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as part of the case.

No arrests have been reported so far, and the accused have not made any public statements regarding the allegations.
