Police in Ujjain recovered cigarettes worth ₹31 lakh after a theft carried out using two stolen SUVs, and have arrested two suspects.
Ujjain police have cracked a major theft in which cigarettes valued at approximately ₹31 lakh were taken from a local warehouse. The criminals accessed the facility using two SUVs that had been reported stolen earlier in the week.
Investigators traced the stolen vehicles to the warehouse premises through CCTV footage and forensic analysis, linking them to the missing stock. The raid uncovered the hidden stash of cigarettes and led to the identification of two individuals believed to have orchestrated the robbery.
Both accused were apprehended by the police on Tuesday and are currently in custody. Authorities said they will continue to probe the network behind the theft to recover any remaining loss and prevent similar incidents.
