Police in Nagaon, Assam, have arrested two individuals accused of leading an international vehicle theft syndicate, officials said.
Police in Nagaon, Assam, announced the arrest of two suspects identified as the alleged masterminds behind a transnational vehicle theft operation. The arrests were made during a coordinated raid by the Assam Police's crime branch, according to a statement released by the department.
The duo is believed to have orchestrated the illegal export of stolen vehicles to destinations across Asia and Europe, using a network of dealers and transporters. Investigators say the suspects leveraged forged documents and forged customs clearances to move the stolen assets.
Authorities have seized several vehicles linked to the case and are continuing to trace the broader network. Senior police officials said the operation underscores the state's commitment to tackling organized crime that exploits cross‑border trade routes.
Further details, including the names of the arrested individuals and the exact number of vehicles recovered, are expected to be disclosed as the investigation proceeds.
