Early trends in the Tamil Nadu by-polls show the Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK) leading in the Dharapuram and Madurai North constituencies. The party appears to have a comfortable edge as counting proceeds.
The by-polls for the Dharapuram and Madurai North assembly seats were held following vacancies in the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly. TVK, the party launched by actor Vijay, fielded candidates in both constituencies as part of its electoral debut.
As per the initial counting trends released by the election office, TVK is ahead in both seats, with a lead described as comfortable by officials. The party’s vote share is reported to be higher than that of its main rivals in these constituencies.
Election authorities caution that the final results are still being compiled and could change as postal ballots and remaining rounds are processed. The outcome in these seats is being watched closely for its potential impact on the state’s political landscape.
