A potato‑laden truck fell beneath a bridge on the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway about 8 km from Ratlam, igniting a fire that injured the driver and the vehicle cleaner.
On Thursday afternoon, a truck loaded with bags of potatoes slipped off the Delhi‑Mumbai Expressway and dropped under a bridge situated between Dharmnod and Esarathuni, roughly eight kilometres from Ratlam in Madhya Pradesh. The vehicle lost control and overturned, causing a sudden blaze inside the cargo area.
The fire quickly engulfed the truck, prompting immediate action from the on‑site rescue teams. The driver and the cleaner accompanying the load sustained injuries and were rushed to the nearest medical facility for treatment. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
Local police and highway authorities cordoned off the affected stretch of the expressway to facilitate firefighting and rescue operations. Traffic was diverted to alternate routes while investigators began assessing the cause of the accident. The expressway is expected to reopen once the site is cleared and safety checks are completed.
