Tripura has been recognized as the best-performing small state under the Prime Minister’s Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, according to a report by Northeast Today. The award highlights the state’s progress in MSME development over the past years.
The PMFME scheme, launched in 2019, aims to promote entrepreneurship, provide financial assistance, and improve the overall ecosystem for micro and small enterprises across India. Tripura’s performance was evaluated on metrics such as new MSME registrations, employment generation, and uptake of scheme benefits.
State officials praised the award, noting that the government’s focus on skill development, digital infrastructure, and ease of doing business has contributed to MSME growth. The recognition is expected to boost investor confidence and encourage further private sector participation in the state’s economy.
The award ceremony took place in Agartala, where the Chief Minister and the Minister of MSME presented the certificate to the state’s MSME department. The government plans to build on this success by expanding support for entrepreneurs and scaling up the scheme’s outreach.
