The Tripura High Court has directed the state's Director General of Police to provide safety measures during the nomination filing process for left‑wing candidates.

The Tripura High Court issued an order directing the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure that left‑leaning candidates can submit their election nominations without fear of intimidation or violence. The directive was issued as political activity intensifies ahead of the upcoming state elections, where concerns have been raised about possible threats to candidates from rival factions. The court stressed that a secure environment is essential to preserve democratic norms during the filing process. Accordingly, the DGP has been instructed to deploy adequate police personnel at nomination centres and to monitor any incidents that could compromise candidate safety. The judiciary will review compliance and may take further action if the prescribed security measures are not effectively implemented.
