The Tripura government has signed an agreement with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) to create a world‑class film and television institute in the state capital, Agartala.
The administration of Tripura announced a formal partnership with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) to develop a new film and television institute in Agartala. The agreement, signed by the state’s chief minister and SRFTI officials, aims to bring a centre of excellence for visual media education to the northeastern region.
The planned institute will be built to international standards, offering state‑of‑the‑art classrooms, studios, post‑production suites and a library of Indian and global cinema. SRFTI will provide curriculum design, faculty training and academic oversight, while the Tripura government will supply land, infrastructure funding and ongoing operational support.
Officials expect the institute to nurture local talent, create job opportunities and attract students from across the country. The project is slated to begin construction later this year, with the first batch of students anticipated to enroll within three years of completion.
