Tripura Governor urges scientific approach to make pig farming profitable

Tripura's Governor addressed the state's agricultural community, emphasizing that pig farming can become a viable source of income if it follows a scientific framework. He highlighted the need for systematic breeding, disease control, and efficient feed management to raise productivity and earnings.

Minister Sudhangshu Das reinforced the governor's message, urging pig farmers across the state to embrace modern practices such as improved housing, veterinary care, and market‑linked pricing. He noted that adopting these methods could reduce losses and increase market competitiveness.

Both officials stressed that the state government will support the transition by facilitating training programs and providing access to quality inputs. The call aims to revitalize Tripura's livestock sector, which has traditionally been a modest contributor to rural livelihoods.
