A Durga Puja pandal organized by the Tripura diaspora has been erected at Bangkok’s iconic Temple of Dawn, marking a cultural celebration abroad.
The Tripura diaspora in Thailand has inaugurated a Durga Puja pandal within the premises of Bangkok’s historic Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun). The temporary structure, adorned with traditional Bengali motifs, was unveiled ahead of the festival’s main rituals scheduled for later this week.
Organizers say the pandal aims to bring a slice of home to the Indian community in Bangkok while also showcasing Bengali culture to Thai locals and tourists. The event is being coordinated in collaboration with the temple authorities, ensuring that the installation respects the heritage site’s sanctity.
The pandal will remain open for several days, allowing devotees and visitors to partake in prayers, cultural performances, and traditional Bengali cuisine. Community leaders anticipate a turnout of several hundred people, including expatriates, Thai residents, and foreign tourists curious about the festivities.
Officials from the Indian Embassy in Bangkok have expressed support for the celebration, noting its role in strengthening cultural ties between India and Thailand.
