Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has called for the preservation of the contributions of former ruler Bir Bikram in the state's history, emphasizing the need to document and honor his legacy.

Chief Minister Manik Saha addressed the state assembly on Tuesday, urging that the achievements of former Maharaja Bir Bikram, who ruled Tripura from 1909 to 1947, be formally recorded and preserved in the annals of the state.
Saha highlighted Bir Bikram’s role in modernising Tripura’s infrastructure, establishing educational institutions, and fostering relations with the British administration. He stressed that these milestones should be documented for future generations.
The CM called upon historians, the education department, and cultural bodies to collaborate on compiling a comprehensive biography and to incorporate Bir Bikram’s legacy into school curricula.
While no specific project has been announced, the call is expected to prompt the state government to initiate archival and commemorative efforts in the coming months.
