Chief Minister Pradyot Debbarma has warned that if the government fails to secure rights for indigenous communities under the Tiprasa Accord, he will pursue an independent path.

Chief Minister Pradyot Debbarma addressed the press on Tuesday, demanding that the state government honour the Tiprasa Accord and grant rights to indigenous communities. He warned that if the government fails to act, he will take an independent approach to protect their interests. The Tiprasa Accord, signed in 2021, was intended to safeguard the cultural and land rights of Tripura’s indigenous peoples. Pradyot’s remarks come amid growing frustration among tribal groups over perceived delays in implementing the agreement. The state administration has yet to respond to the call, while opposition leaders have urged a dialogue to avoid further polarization.
