Chief Minister Manik Saha called for greater access to education, skill development programmes and economic opportunities for women in Tripura, emphasizing the need for self‑reliance.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha addressed a gathering in Tripura, highlighting the state's commitment to improving women's education and vocational training. He stressed that enhanced learning facilities and skill‑building initiatives are essential for women to participate fully in the economy.
Saha pointed out that existing schemes must be broadened and better targeted to reach rural and marginalized communities. He urged government departments and private partners to collaborate on creating more scholarships, apprenticeship slots and entrepreneurship support tailored for women.
The CM also linked women's economic empowerment to overall regional development, stating that a more educated and skilled female workforce will attract investment and boost productivity. He promised that the state will monitor progress and allocate additional resources to ensure measurable outcomes.
Stakeholders, including NGOs and industry bodies, were invited to submit proposals that align with the government's vision of gender‑inclusive growth. The call comes ahead of the upcoming state budget, where allocations for women's education and skill programmes are expected to be reviewed.
Tripura aims to position itself as a model for gender‑focused development in the Northeast, with the CM's statements setting a clear policy direction for the next fiscal year.
