Three Women Dead After Canal Snorkeling Accident in Muzaffarpur, Bihar

Four women were collecting snails near a canal in Muzaffarpur’s Turkhi police station area while gathering fodder and firewood. Three of them, including a mother and her teenage daughter, drowned and died.
The incident occurred in the Turkhi Thana area of Muzaffarpur district when four women went to a nearby canal to collect snails while also gathering fodder and firewood for household use.
During the activity, the women slipped or lost balance and fell into the water. Three of them – two adult women and a teenage girl – could not be rescued in time and died at the scene.
One woman managed to stay afloat and was pulled out by locals who rushed to help. Police have recovered the bodies and started an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident.
Authorities have urged villagers to exercise caution near water bodies, especially during routine chores that bring them close to canals and ponds.
