A late-night collision with a road divider in the Harnaut area of Nalanda district on Tuesday claimed the lives of three teenagers and left two others seriously injured.
A motorcycle carrying five friends crashed into a road divider late on Tuesday night in the Harnaut police‑station jurisdiction of Nalanda district, Bihar. The impact was severe enough to cause the vehicle to overturn, trapping the occupants.
Three of the passengers, all teenagers, were pronounced dead at the scene by attending emergency personnel. The remaining two friends sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the nearest hospital for intensive care.
Local police arrived shortly after the accident, cordoned off the stretch of road and began an initial investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. Preliminary reports suggest that the bike may have veered off its lane before striking the divider, but a full inquiry is ongoing.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution on rural roads after dark, especially in areas with inadequate lighting and sharp road‑side structures. The families of the deceased have been notified, and the injured are receiving medical treatment.
The incident adds to a series of recent road‑safety concerns in the region, prompting calls for improved signage and better enforcement of traffic regulations.
