Jodamajra, Pathanmizra and Kumar Vijay Pratap have left the Aam Aadmi Party to join the Bharatiya Janata Party as Punjab's assembly polls approach.

Three senior politicians from Punjab – Jodamajra, Pathanmizra and Kumar Vijay Pratap – announced their resignation from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the days leading up to the upcoming state assembly elections. The move was confirmed through statements released by the BJP's state unit, which welcomed the trio as new members.

The defections come at a critical juncture for both parties. AAP, which currently holds a significant presence in the Punjab Legislative Assembly, is seeking to retain its voter base, while the BJP aims to broaden its foothold in the state ahead of the polls. Party officials have hinted that the new entrants could help consolidate support in regions where the three leaders have traditionally wielded influence.

Political analysts note that such high‑profile switches are likely to intensify the already competitive pre‑election environment in Punjab. While the BJP has highlighted the additions as a sign of growing momentum, AAP has yet to comment publicly on the departures. The impact of the defections on voter sentiment remains to be seen as the election campaign gains pace.
