Three members of the Kuki‑Zo community were killed, prompting renewed unrest in Manipur and a massive rally of thousands in Imphal demanding justice.

Manipur’s volatile situation escalated on Monday after three individuals belonging to the Kuki‑Zo community were found dead in separate incidents, reigniting communal tension in the state. Local officials confirmed the deaths but withheld detailed circumstances pending investigation.
The news sparked a rapid mobilisation of Kuki‑Zo supporters, and by afternoon more than a thousand people gathered at Imphal’s central ground, chanting slogans and holding placards demanding accountability and protection for their community. Organisers said the rally aimed to press the state government for a transparent inquiry and stronger security measures.
Security forces deployed additional personnel around the rally venue and set up barricades to prevent any spill‑over of violence. Police spokesperson urged calm, stating that investigations are underway and that any attempts to incite further unrest would be dealt with strictly.
The incident adds to a series of ethnic clashes that have plagued Manipur since 2023, underscoring the fragile peace and the urgent need for dialogue between the state’s diverse groups.
