A fight broke out between vendors and AC coach attendants on the Khushpra Express near Salaiya railway station in Madhya Pradesh, leaving three attendants with head and eye injuries.
The Khushpra Express travelling on the Damoh‑Katni line was halted near Salaiya railway station after a violent clash erupted inside one of its AC coaches. According to eyewitnesses, the dispute began when vendors attempted to conceal alcoholic beverages and were confronted by the coach attendants.
The attendants objected to the illegal storage of alcohol, prompting the vendors to resist. The confrontation quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the attendants were struck by the vendors.
Three AC‑coach attendants sustained injuries, primarily to their heads and eyes, and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their conditions were reported as serious but stable.
Railway officials said the incident has been reported to the local police, and a case has been registered to investigate the assault and the illegal sale of alcohol on the train. Security measures are being reviewed to prevent similar episodes.
The episode highlights ongoing concerns about the safety of railway staff and the enforcement of liquor prohibition rules on Indian trains.
