A massive crowd assembled at the historic Mahalakshmi Temple in Indore's Rajwada as the five‑day Diwali celebrations began, featuring 56 offerings and three special decorations.

Indore's iconic Mahalakshmi Temple, situated within the Rajwada precinct, became a sea of devotees on the eve of Diwali as the city launched a five‑day religious programme. Worshippers gathered in large numbers, seeking blessings for prosperity and well‑being ahead of the festival.

The temple, founded in 1832 by Malhar Rao Holkar II, has served as a spiritual centre for nearly two centuries. Its historic architecture and long‑standing traditions continue to draw both locals and visitors from across Madhya Pradesh.

During the celebrations, priests are preparing 56 distinct bhogs and have arranged three special alankar (decorations) to enhance the sanctity of the deity. The elaborate offerings are part of the ritual aimed at invoking the goddess Mahalakshmi's grace for the upcoming year.

Organisers have emphasized that the event reflects the community's collective hope for peace, health and economic stability, themes that resonate strongly during the festive season.
