Following a public demand to clear the clogged drain on North Pillayar Temple Street in Mattakkadai, Thootukudi municipal officials conducted an on‑site inspection with senior council members.

Thootukudi Municipal Corporation officials visited the North Pillayar Temple Street in the Mattakkadai ward to assess a public request for clearing a blocked drainage channel. The inspection was carried out after residents repeatedly appealed for immediate action to prevent waterlogging in the area.

The site, located in the northern part of the ward, has been a source of inconvenience for local households due to the stagnant water that accumulates during rains. Officials examined the condition of the drain and identified the extent of blockage that requires prompt remedial work.

Accompanying the municipal engineer were several elected representatives: Mr. Ravindran, former council member and current ward committee secretary; Mr. Suresh Kumar, area committee secretary and council member; and Mrs. Mari Geetha, council member. Additional committee officials were also present to document the findings.

The team concluded that immediate cleaning and repair work is necessary and directed the public works department to prioritize the task. Residents were assured that the municipality will monitor progress and provide updates on the remediation schedule.
