India’s leading Test batsmen – Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja – have begun the new Ranji Trophy season, marking the return of the premier domestic competition.

The Ranji Trophy, India’s flagship first‑class cricket tournament, resumed after a hiatus, with the opening round featuring several current Test players. Among the notable names, opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, senior wicket‑keeper‑batsman KL Rahul and all‑rounder Ravindra Jadeja turned out for their respective state sides, signalling their commitment to domestic cricket ahead of upcoming international commitments. Their participation is expected to raise the competition’s profile and provide younger teammates with valuable exposure. The matches are being played across venues nationwide, with the first fixtures scheduled in early March. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has highlighted the importance of the Ranji Trophy in talent development, and the presence of Test stars underscores that message.
