Ten people died after drinking toxic liquor in Bunda tehsil of Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, and police have taken twelve suspects into custody.

A wave of panic swept Bunda tehsil in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh after a batch of illicit liquor turned out to be poisonous. Local authorities said the contaminated drink was consumed by a group of people on Saturday, leading to a sudden surge in severe illness.

Medical officials confirmed that ten victims succumbed to the effects of the toxic alcohol, while several others were hospitalized in critical condition. The deaths have been officially recorded as a result of acute poisoning caused by adulterated liquor.

Police investigations quickly identified a network that had supplied the spurious brew. Twelve individuals suspected of manufacturing, transporting, or selling the liquor were arrested and are currently in police custody. The investigation is ongoing to trace the source of the contamination.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, speaking at a press briefing, pledged strict action against those responsible and urged the public to exercise caution when purchasing alcoholic beverages from unlicensed vendors. Health officials have also warned residents to report any similar incidents immediately.
