The Telangana State Implementation Report reveals that over 5.25 lakh electors have been marked for inclusion in the voter list without any hearings being conducted. The matter has drawn attention to procedural safeguards in electoral roll revisions.
The Telangana State Implementation Report (SIR) has indicated that more than 5.25 lakh electors are slated for inclusion in the upcoming electoral rolls without being afforded a hearing. The figure was highlighted in the report released by the state’s election authorities.
According to the SIR, these electors were added to the draft voter list directly, bypassing the usual provision for a hearing where objections can be raised. The report does not specify the reasons for omitting the hearing step.
The development has prompted discussions among various stakeholders about ensuring adherence to established norms for voter list updates. Election officials have been asked to clarify the procedure followed in these cases.
