Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to the Union government for assistance in attracting greater defence sector investment to Telangana.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met senior officials of the Union government to discuss the state's aspirations for higher defence‑related investment. He highlighted Telangana's strategic location, existing industrial base and skilled workforce as assets that can support the expansion of defence manufacturing and research.

Reddy said that direct central support—whether through policy incentives, funding or facilitation of public‑private partnerships—would accelerate the establishment of new defence units and ancillary industries in the state. He underscored that such investment would generate jobs, boost local economies and strengthen India's overall defence preparedness.

The discussion also touched on leveraging existing defence research institutions in the region to attract private players. While concrete proposals are yet to be finalised, the chief minister expressed confidence that a coordinated effort with the Centre could position Telangana as a prominent hub for defence production.

The Union government has not yet issued a formal response, but officials indicated that the request would be examined in the context of the broader national defence procurement strategy.
