Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has written to the US Ambassador requesting faster H‑1B visa processing, easier renewals and additional appointment slots for Indian professionals.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao sent a formal letter to US Ambassador Thomas R. Blanton urging the United States to accelerate the processing of H‑1B visas for Indian workers. The CM highlighted that prolonged delays are hampering the ability of IT professionals and other skilled employees to join or remain with US employers.
In the correspondence, Rao asked for three specific measures: quicker adjudication of new H‑1B petitions, a streamlined renewal mechanism for existing visa holders, and an increase in the number of appointment slots at US consular offices in India. He argued that these steps would ease the talent bottleneck affecting both the Indian tech sector and US companies that rely on Indian expertise.
The appeal comes amid growing concerns across Indian states that visa backlogs are impacting the state’s diaspora and the inflow of remittances. Rao urged the US side to consider the broader economic partnership between the two nations while addressing the procedural hurdles.
While the US government has not yet responded publicly, the request adds pressure on Washington to review its visa administration policies, especially as the demand for skilled Indian workers in the United States remains high.
