Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have moved the official observance of Milad-un-Nabi to August 26, as announced by state authorities.
The governments of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have jointly decided to observe Milad-un-Nabi on August 26 this year, deviating from the previously scheduled date. The change was communicated through official notifications issued by the respective state departments of education and public administration.
State officials said the adjustment aligns the holiday with the lunar calendar calculations used by many Muslim communities to mark the Prophet Muhammad's birth. The revised date will be reflected in the academic calendars of schools and colleges, as well as in the list of public holidays for government offices and banks in both states.
Employers and institutions have been advised to update their schedules accordingly and inform employees and students about the new holiday. No further changes to other state holidays have been announced at this time.
