Telangana’s IT Minister Sridhar Babu has accused the central government of treating the state unfairly in its chip development support.

Telangana’s IT Minister Sridhar Babu has publicly criticised the central government for what he described as a ‘step‑motherly’ approach to chip development support for the state.

Babu said that the central policies and funding mechanisms have not been aligned with Telangana’s needs, leaving the state at a disadvantage in the rapidly growing semiconductor sector.

The minister called for a more collaborative and equitable framework that would enable Telangana to attract investment and build its own chip manufacturing capabilities.

No official response from the central government has been released yet.

The comments come amid growing competition among Indian states to secure federal support for semiconductor projects.
