RJD chief Tejaswi Yadav announced a coordinated protest with the Congress, despite contesting each other in the Legislative Council polls.
Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejaswi Yadav announced on Thursday that the party will launch a large‑scale movement in Bihar under the banner of the Mahagathbandhan. The call for a coordinated protest was made during a press briefing in Patna, where Yadav outlined the intent to mobilise supporters across the state.
The announcement comes at a time when the RJD and the Indian National Congress are fielding rival candidates for the upcoming Legislative Council elections. Nevertheless, both parties agreed to join forces on a common issue, signalling a tactical alignment despite the electoral competition.
Yadav said the details of the movement – including the exact dates, venues and specific demands – will be released in the coming days. The joint effort is aimed at rallying public opinion and pressing the state administration on matters of governance and development that affect ordinary citizens.
Political observers note that this coordinated action could reshape the dynamics of the council elections, as the Mahagathbandhan seeks to present a united front against the ruling party in Bihar.
