The National Democratic Alliance, anchored by the Telugu Desam Party, secured a clear majority in the recent urban local body polls across Andhra Pradesh, while Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has accused the process of being rigged.
The recent urban civic elections in Andhra Pradesh concluded with the National Democratic Alliance, led by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), emerging as the clear winner, securing a majority of seats in municipal corporations across major cities. Election officials announced the results on Saturday, confirming the NDA's strong performance in urban constituencies that were closely watched for political trends.
In response, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR Congress Party publicly alleged that the voting process was marred by irregularities and rigging. He called for a thorough investigation and urged the Election Commission to examine the counting procedures.
The Election Commission, however, affirmed that the polls were conducted in accordance with established guidelines and that no substantive evidence of malpractice has been presented so far. Both parties are expected to continue their political campaigns ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.
