Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, opened its five‑day State Archery Championship on Monday, drawing a total of 100 participants from 13 different teams across the state. The event, organized by the Arunachal Pradesh Archery Association, aims to promote the sport at the grassroots level and identify talent for national competitions.
The opening ceremony featured a traditional bow‑and‑arrow salute, followed by the first round of matches held at the newly upgraded Tawang Sports Complex. Officials highlighted that the tournament will include both individual and team categories, with scores being recorded in real time for transparency.
Organisers expect the championship to conclude with a medal ceremony on the final day, where top performers will receive trophies and cash prizes. The competition also serves as a selection platform for upcoming state and national level archery events.
