Tamil Nadu Transfers Prison Officials After Theni Jailbreak

A jailbreak at Theni prison in Tamil Nadu has led to the transfer of several officials, according to the state Home Department. The incident, which saw a number of inmates escape, exposed lapses in the prison’s security protocols. In response, the department has moved key personnel to other facilities as a disciplinary measure.

The Home Department said it is conducting a thorough investigation into the breach and will review existing security measures. It also announced that additional training and monitoring will be implemented to prevent a recurrence.

The move comes amid growing public concern over prison safety in the state. Officials have assured that steps are being taken to strengthen surveillance and staff accountability.
