The state cabinet announced a set of reforms designed to simplify the procedure for granting building permits. Under the new framework, applications will be processed through a single-window system, cutting down the number of departmental clearances required. Local bodies, including municipal corporations and panchayat unions, have been authorized to issue final approvals, a shift from the earlier practice where state-level agencies held the decisive role.
