Tamil Nadu schools are scheduled to close on October 31, but authorities warn that the approaching cyclone and heavy rains may keep schools shut longer.
Tamil Nadu’s education department has announced that all government and private schools will be closed on October 31, 2026. The closure follows a state‑wide notification issued earlier this week.
However, the state’s meteorological department has warned of an approaching cyclone and persistent rainfall that could disrupt normal school operations. Officials have advised parents to keep children at home until a final decision is released.
The education ministry has set up a monitoring team to assess the situation daily and will issue a revised schedule if the weather conditions worsen. Parents and teachers are urged to stay tuned to official channels for any updates.
