The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation has unveiled a new online platform that allows consumers to purchase alcohol directly, aiming to streamline sales and improve regulatory compliance.
The Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TNSMC) today launched an online portal that lets residents order alcohol from the comfort of their homes. The website, accessible at www.tnsmc.gov.in/alcohol, also offers a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
To use the portal, users must first register with a valid government ID and a mobile number. After verification, they can view the catalogue of approved beverages, check real‑time availability, and place orders. Payments are accepted through net banking, UPI, and credit/debit cards.
The portal is part of the state’s effort to curb illicit liquor trade and ensure that all sales are recorded and taxed properly. Orders placed online are processed by TNSMC’s distribution network and delivered to the buyer’s address within 24 hours, subject to local delivery regulations.
Officials say the platform will also provide consumers with price transparency and a record of their purchase history, helping them make informed choices while keeping the supply chain traceable.
