The Tamil Nadu government has announced the creation of an additional court to handle cases under the National Investigation Agency, aiming to expedite trials.

The state government has decided to set up a new court dedicated to hearing cases brought by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The move is intended to speed up the adjudication of terrorism‑related and other sensitive cases that have been piling up in the existing judicial system. Officials say the additional bench will reduce delays and help the NIA in its investigations. The court will operate under the existing judicial framework and will be staffed by experienced judges and support staff. The decision follows a review of the backlog of NIA cases in the state.
