The state government is evaluating the possibility of converting the 1,700 acres earmarked for the Parandur airport into an industrial hub.

The Tamil Nadu government announced that it is reviewing alternative uses for the 1,700 acres of land acquired for the proposed Parandur airport in Kancheepuram district. Officials said the site could be repurposed for industrial development, aligning with the state’s push to attract manufacturing and logistics firms. The proposal follows delays and cost concerns surrounding the airport project. The Department of Industrial Development will prepare a detailed feasibility study, and any decision will be taken after consulting the state planning commission and local authorities. If approved, the area could host factories, warehousing and ancillary services, potentially creating thousands of jobs.
