The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly adopted a resolution calling for the abolition of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) as the sole criterion for medical college admissions.

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, in a session held on Monday, adopted a resolution demanding the removal of NEET from the list of eligibility tests for admission to government and private medical colleges in the state. The resolution, presented by the opposition, argues that NEET creates undue pressure on students and disadvantages those from rural and economically weaker backgrounds. It calls for a state‑level entrance exam that would be more inclusive and tailored to local educational needs. The ruling party has yet to respond to the motion, and the proposal will now be debated in the next assembly session.
